Silverthorne, Colorado (November 25, 2024) – The International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) established a transgender policy as of 10/17/2024. USA Skimo has adopted the ISMF policy for all National Championship races and National Cup races effective for the 2024/25 season.

Realizing that the ISMF policy is restrictive to transgender athletes and does not address non-binary athletes, USA Skimo will have an Open category at National Championships to include all athletes who do not meet the ISMF criteria for their gender category, or choose to enter. USA Skimo encourages all National Cup races to include an open category.
